Yggdrasil Gaming Warned and Fined SEK 300,000 by Swedish Gaming Regulator
Spelinspektionen, the Swedish gaming regulator, warned and fined a popular game provider Yggdrasil Gaming. The regulator found out that the developer supplied its games to an unlicensed operator that is banned in Sweden.
The findings were made on January 16, 2024. After the regulator contacted the studio, Yggdrasil quickly fixed the problem. The developer explained that a reseller broke the terms of their contract and supplied games to an operator unlicensed in Sweden.
According to the regulations, if a violation is minor or there are some mitigating circumstances, Spelinspektionen won’t issue a penalty. However, this violation was considered serious, which can result in a license being revoked. But because Yggdrasil cooperated with the regulator, it received a warning and a SEK 300,000 penalty.
