Pirots 2 is an amazing sequel to the ELK Studio’s hit, Pirots. They both feature a unique CollectR engine combined with a ton of features to ensure plenty of action at all times. For the second installment, the studio came up with a couple of new features, more refined audio-visuals all while keeping the familiarity of the original.
In the promo video, the studio gives us a hint of other possible Pirots adventures as they show three different worlds available: Wild West, Space World and DinoLand. For this installment, the feathered creatures chose to disembark on DinoLand to refill their rum stocks.
Features
The CollectR engine is at the core of the Pirots 2 gameplay. There are four birds of different colors, and each bird has its amber symbol. To grab a win, a bird has to land next to one or more of its ambers. And the reward for each of the symbols can increase as birds stumble across special arrows. Birds can also collect a variety of special symbols, such as:
- Coin symbols, awarding random multipliers.
- Wilds that substitute any amber symbol.
- The ‘Don’t Press’ button drops a meteor that removes some symbols and expands the layout first to 7×7 and then to 8×8.
- An egg will reveal a baby dinosaur that scares away birds making them reappear at different spots.
- A box of popcorn leaves a trail of popcorn behind a moving bird, and this trail is used by birds to reach their respective amber icons that weren’t accessible for them before.
- A mushroom eaten by a bird will transform symbols so that they can be collected.
Parrots can sometimes agree to switch sides when they land next to each other if that allows them to collect symbols. And when the place becomes too crowded, the feathered friends fly away fighting and remove symbols from the grid in the process.
Above the reel set you can see a collection meter that fills as winning symbols get collected. When it’s filled, some of the above-mentioned feature symbols are awarded. In the main game, the meter resets after each round.
Free Drops
A great thing about this bonus game is that all those features that make the gameplay so exciting in the main round, do not reset when you enter free drops. Reels remain expanded, the symbol collection meter and symbol payout levels don’t reset between drops.
5 free drops are awarded when you enter the bonus. But they can be retriggered. And it’s more likely to have the grid expanding to its maximum 8×8 size because once it’s 7×7, it retains this size until another meteor falls or the round ends.
In addition to a regular round of free drops, there’s an enhanced, Super, version that offers a max grid size from the very first free drop, and one upgrade symbol applied to all ambers and not just one.
How to Activate Free Drops
Pirots 2 offers the studio’s signature X-iter options. That means there’s a bunch of features you can buy, including the free drops and their Super version, as an alternative to activating them randomly. Here’s the full list of features that can be bought and their prices.
- 3x bet will buy you 4 times higher chances of triggering a bonus round
- 10x bet is the price of one popcorn feature activation
- 25x bet expands the grid to its max size of 8×8
- 100x bet guarantees a bonus game
- 500x bet guarantees a Super Bonus
Conclusion
Pirots 2 reintroduces a team of cute parrot pirates who chose to disembark on DinoLand in search of rum. The slot is built around a fun CollectR mechanics and spiced up with a bunch of exciting modifiers that keep players entertained in both main and bonus rounds. Whether you are a fan of the original or completely new to this Pirots story, it’s worth giving it a few test spins.

1 reviewOctober 4, 2023 at 5:29PMI'm struggling to discern significant differences between the first game and this sequel; the changes seem somewhat unclear and confusing. This is quite disappointing. It would have been delightful if the second installment had retained its original charm while enhancing its style. For instance, incorporating random chests, coins, or bombs, and upgrading these symbols in the bonus game could have been a nice touch. Perhaps such improvements could be considered for a potential third installment? I must admit, the initial version remains my absolute favorite among all slot games.
