Klowns is built on the popular scatter pays mechanic. It’s a medium volatility slot with up to x10,000 max win and 40% hit frequency. Cascades make it even more interesting for many players.  

To land a win, Kiwi players need at least 8 similar symbols. But there are different types of Needle Boxes that land some wins even when you don’t have enough similar symbols.  

Multipliers 

Character symbols, Lester and Jester, are both multipliers, and they each have a special property to them. When two or more of them land, their values are either added or multiplied, depending on what clowns are in view. That’s the centerpiece of the Klown slot’s gameplay. And it’s not just the fact that their value increases that’s so exciting, but the fact that they are applied to the total and not a single win.  

• Adding Multipliers. If you have two of them on the screen, the sum of their values is applied to the win. You can as well get three or more of them, and each will have multipliers between x2 and x500. 
• Multiplying Multipliers. These ones come a bit smaller, from x2 up to x20. But there’s no limit to where their total can go when they are multiplied. Get at least two x20 Multiplying Multipliers, and the total is already impressive at x400.  

Needle Boxes 

Needle is a good tool for popping balloons. And that’s what you need to be doing in Klowns. There are three types of Needle Boxes, they have different symbols on their sides, which determine what types of balloons they can pop.  

• All low-value symbols will be popped and x0.1 paid for each. 
• All high-value symbols will be popped and x0.5 paid for each.  
• Epic Needle Box. You’ll see two diamond shapes on its sides, and it means both low and high-value icons will be destroyed. Plus, it pokes the Bounty Balloon to release a boost to the total multiplier. 

Bonus Games  

In Klowns, NZ players get a chance to enter two bonus games by landing 3 or 4 scatters. They are similar, but the one that requires 4 scatters offers a higher win potential because its Bounty Balloon doesn’t reset between pops.  

Players get 10 free spins and unlock +2 and +4 spins for 2 and 3 scatters, respectively. The difference with the base game is that the Bounty Balloon, mentioned above, gets introduced and multipliers are generally higher. You’ll see a special X balloon just outside the grid. Whenever any multiplier appears on the reels, this balloon increases. That’s how it grows until it’s popped by the Epic Needle Box and added to the total multiplier.  

If you enter the bonus round of this pokie machine with 3 scatters, this Bounty Balloon resets to 0 after being popped. But as mentioned above, it keeps growing even after the pop when you enter the other bonus game.  

Conclusion 

Klowns is a fun slot game that looks very atmospheric and can be quite generous at times. Those who hope for some nice payouts, would have to wait for a bonus game with more multipliers of higher value and the chance to grow and pop the Bounty Balloon.
