Swedish Regulator, Spelinspektionen, Has Lost a Court Case Against Zimpler Again
Swedish Gaming Regulator was confident it has all the rights to request Zimpler, a payment processor, to abandon its operators that aren’t licensed in Sweden. Much to its surprise, it lost in the court not once, but twice.
After the regulator was unsuccessful during the first court, it filed an appeal. But the verdict was no different. Turns out, there’s a lack of specific details about what it means to “target Swedish players”. Currently, it’s understood that a gambling site is translated into Swedish.
Since Zimpler didn’t work with operators that have their sites in Swedish, it didn’t break any regulations. So, the regulator has no right to issue such orders and fine the company.
