The game introduces players to a criminal crew of five. Each one of them has a certain position on the grid and will expand to boost the chances of winning and can even significantly increase a win.

Those who decide to join the crew will go through a rigorous testing process when potential members must complete missions. This is the key feature that delivers action. During bonus games these missions remain, but they are delivered in a slightly different way.

Miami Mayhem Features

It’s a 5×4 game with just 14 lines. There are Wilds and special Crew symbols. The latter is the key element as it activates Expanding Wilds. These special Wilds can award multipliers, and missions are there to ensure bigger multipliers. These two features are present in both base and bonus modes.

Expanding Reels

There’s a Crew icon that will occasionally land. Sometimes this symbol does nothing, but other times it expands and reveals one of the crew members. Expansion takes place only when this leads to a winning combination. You can always know which symbol is revealed depending on where it lands, because each reel is connected to a specific crew member.

It’s very uncommon to land big multipliers naturally. But when you upgrade to higher levels, they are much more likely or even guaranteed.

Completing missions isn’t always easy. If you are lucky, the first couple of missions will be to collect low-value winning combinations. That makes it much more likely to upgrade. But when high-value combinations are required first, the chances of failure are quite significant and upgrading even to Level 1 is a challenge.

My experience playing free Miami Mayhem isn’t too successful. There must be around 50 mission activations I triggered, and not even once did I manage to upgrade to Level 4. So, Level 3 is my personal best. But you might be luckier and get all the way to top for guaranteed x25 and higher multipliers.

Miami Mayhem Slot Bonuses

Bonus is very similar to how you play the game in base mode. The features are the same, the payouts are no different. But there’s a difference we are going to talk about later in this review.

To enter the feature, there should be at least 3 FS icons. If you get 4 of them, it’s even better because one new thing, called Crew Spin, is introduced. 5 FS icons award the best bonus with 1 Crew icon guaranteed in every spin. But regardless of the bonus level, they all offer 10 initial spins. However, only two less advanced bonus features can get extra spins.

• 3 Scatters. Crew symbols are more frequent. Missions are carried over from one spin to another. So, there will be at least 10 spins to upgrade to the highest level. But missions don’t come as respins anymore. You simply use free spins to complete missions. Demo Miami Mayhem to get a feel of this feature.
• 4 Scatters. Mayhem Bar is introduced. Each reel has its own bar, and once an Expanding Wild lands there, a bar under a corresponding reel is filled. Once the feature is over, gamblers receive one extra spin, called Crew Spin. That’s when all collected Expanding Wilds are released. So, you can have one spin full of Wilds.
• 5 Scatters. This is the return to the 3-scatter bonus version. This time, there will be at least 1 Crew icon in every spin. But what’s even more exciting is that you don’t have to complete a bunch of missions to upgrade to the highest level. Because this Miami Mayhem slot bonus begins at Level 5. So, you are much more likely to benefit from those x25 and higher multipliers.

When you are just getting to know the game, you can simply buy 3 or 4 Scatters and see if the Miami Mayhem slot can deliver a good demo experience. Unfortunately, the most lucrative bonus can’t be paid for. And you’ll probably have to spin the slot thousands and thousands of times before naturally activating it.

Testing Features and Bonuses

My experience playing the free Miami Mayhem slot shows that even during FS upgrading to the highest mission level is a challenge. Sometimes, you exit the feature without completing any missions. Other times, you can upgrade but climbing too high is unlikely.

I wasn’t so lucky to land 5 Scatters and therefore can’t tell you about the thrill of playing it. But my feeling is that it won’t usually live up to expectations.
