This slot features the same gameplay as in Sugar Rush, and even visuals aren’t so much different. Powdered sugar glaze in the original looks pretty much similar to snow in the Xmas version. But a couple of signature holiday decorations won’t let you confuse the two.   

The game was such a success that it made it to the overall 100 Most Played Slots in 2023. It landed 12th, just a few positions below the original. So, it does show that Christmas themed slots are a big thing and players enjoy them a lot.  

Features 

If you are familiar with the original game, you know exactly what to expect, because the developer hasn’t changed a thing in regard to gameplay. So, you have a combination of the tumble feature and a quite interesting Multiplier Spot feature. These two are the things that keep you entertained in both base and bonus modes.  

Tumbling is something many players already know. The feature is also called ‘cascading reels’ or ‘avalanche’. It’s when winning combinations disappear to make way for new symbols and potentially more wins. And growing multipliers are often used in combination with this feature. But the unique thing about Sugar Rush Xmas is that it has a thrilling method of crediting and upgrading these multipliers.  

Multiplier Spots 

This is what differentiates this slot from many others that are built around cascades with growing multipliers. Every win leaves a highlighted area for the duration of a round. If a winning cluster that comes after an initial win, lands entirely or partially on that highlighted area, players get an x2 multiplier for each of the multiplier spots.  

Multipliers are added together. Let’s say five symbols of a winning cluster landed on multiplier spots, that means you get 2x five times for this win, which is 10x.  

When cascades keep producing wins on multiplier spots, multipliers keep growing. Each of the spots will have its value doubled. So, eventually if you have numerous cascades within one spin, you’ll have different multipliers all over the place, from small to big ones. And the biggest they can grow is 128x.  

Free Spins 

That’s when you can have a real blast, because not only do you have cascades and growing multipliers, but these multipliers do not reset between rounds. So, the figures will only grow as the feature progresses.  

As usual, scatters are required to activate the free spins. 3 scatters get you 10 spins, and the number increases with every additional scatter. The maximum number of initially released bonus rounds is 30. But you can retrigger the feature by landing scatters during the free spins.  

Later rounds can easily get you some massive wins, especially when you have more than 10 initial spins or got lucky to retrigger the feature. But landing more than 3 scatters is a rare occurrence. Even when you buy free spins, you don’t get to choose how many rounds you get. For the price of 100x you get a random number of scatters, which typically is 3.  

Conclusion 

Sugar Rush Xmas is an amazing game to play when Christmas is around the corner. But you can as well enjoy it off holiday season if you love snow more than the powdered sugar glaze of the original. At the heart of the game is the Multiplier Spots concept that combined with the tumble feature, can bring some sweet wins.
