Curacao Introduces New Responsible Gaming Policy to Make Gambling Safer for Players
Curacao has followed the footsteps of some of the most reputable gaming jurisdictions by introducing a new policy that is designed to provide better protection from problem gambling.
Now, all online casinos licensed in Curacao will have to follow new rules. There are a bunch of detailed instructions of what operators have to do, including:
- Self-exclusion options for 1, 3, 5 years and lifetime. And this feature must be activated instantly once the player requests it.
- Deposit limits for a day, week and month. Plus, players shouldn’t be able to have their deposit limits increased immediately.
- Reality checks are also required so that players keep track of how much time and money they spend gambling.
On top of that, Curacao licensed gaming sites now have the responsibility of detecting problem gambling behavior and preventing players from spiraling out of control. This can even include setting account restrictions if needed.
Casino staff must be trained to detect problem gamblers and direct them to get relevant support services.
Casinos will have to submit reports and go through audits to make sure they are following the Responsible Gaming Policy. They have four months before the regulator begins monitoring their compliance to new rules. But they are asked to update their policies before March 31, 2025.
