Curacao to Introduce Stricter Standards for Online Casinos This September

Javier Silvana, the Minister of Finance of Curacao, announced that they will introduce tougher online gambling regulations to ensure the integrity of the sector and better player protection. This doesn’t come as a surprise as the country has long been promising to make changes.

Starting from September 1, there will be new regulations for gambling operators to meet. This should be a positive change for Curacao that has built a bad reputation for lack of control. The new set of rules is presented in the National Gambling Ordinance (LOK), the document which is yet to be approved and published.

Javier Silvana mentioned that it’s going to be a smooth transition for operators as initially operators will be issued licenses under the current legislature with the intent to gradually enforce new rules. He said that most Curacao licensed gambling sites run safe and fair business, and only a few of them make the jurisdiction look bad.
