Videoslots Casino Receives a 12 Million SEK Fine from Spelinspektionen for Duty of Care Failings

Spelinspektionen, the Swedish gaming regulator, issued Videoslots Casino a warning and a 12 million SEK fine (around 1.095 million EUR) for the Duty of Care failings. According to the authority, the operator failed to sufficiently restrict gambling activity when players showed the signs of problem gambling.

In 2024, the regulator checked to see if Videoslots complies with the Duty of Care rules. The operator’s guidelines and the cases of some players were reviewed. The data provided by the casino showed player behavior and all the measures the casino took to prevent excessive gambling.

The regulator wasn’t happy with the system that the operator put in place to protect players. But Videoslots argued that their measures are within the regulatory requirements and it’s the lack of regulations to blame for the fact that they don’t have more intrusive measures in place.

The regulator described the casino’s approach to the Duty of Care as passive. It found systematic shortcomings and classified violations as serious, which can be used as grounds for revoking a license. But Spelinspektionen decided to issue a warning and a 12 million SEK fine.
