TikTok Expands Its Gambling Ads Trial in Australia. Two More Operators Get Exclusive Permission
TikTok doesn’t allow gambling ads, but it seems like the platform can eventually reconsider the ban. In 2022 it launched a trial in Australia and allowed Sportsbet ads. Recently, it added two more operators to the list. Neds and Dabble get TikTok’s permission to target the platform’s audience.
Many are concerned with the consequences of the ads trial expansion. TikTok is mostly used by a younger generation, the category which is considered one of the most vulnerable to gambling harm. But others think that users will instantly swipe to watch another video when they see ads.
